Brief

Grosvenor reached out to We Are Placemaking to produce their exciting Christmas Lights switch-on moment at Mount Street and enhance it with a festive market to attract new footfall, enticing commuters, locals, and tourists.

This thrilling event was a fantastic opportunity to truly mix placemaking with their public realm as we were able to enhance their public area to produce a festive event for all guests to enjoy this season. This experience sought to be both immersive and sharable to all visitors who enjoyed this special moment.

As always, working alongside one of London’s most prestigious estate owners is a pleasure.

What we did

We Are Placemaking worked closely with Grosvenor to deliver a festive atmosphere within Mount Street. The Mount Street area was ready to be illuminated at this event, but it also included beautiful, decorated chalets with different themed food and beverage options. The main stage boasted seasonal acts to entertain the audience leading up to the special switch-on moment.

We had the opportunity to coordinate five chalets packed with irresistable food and gorgeous arts, from, crafts items, mulled wine, and scrumptions hot food.

Beyond the main switch-on moment, which illuminated the street with Christmas lights and showcased the designed Christmas Tree, the festivities included captivating acts such as the Nutcracker Ballet dancer, the Mayfair Community Choir, the Salvation Army band, and the amazingly talented singer Emma Lindars.

Our hero piece was beautifully and creatively arranged by a local supplier large Christmas Wreath installation which made the entrance to our Christmas Market area a great opportunity for countless photographs! This photo opportunity was placed in situ which encouraged footfall to the main street during the event and was later reallocated to be displayed by the Mount Street Gardens.

This London Placemaking project achieved remarkable success, attracting a footfall of over 6,000 people, boosting social media engagement, and fostering lasting connections between the client and surrounding stakeholders.
