Brief

Four Agency Worldwide, a leading and independent media, marketing, and communications agency, reached out to We Are Placemaking to organise a summer event that would engage local residents and workers in London office hotspot, Farringdon.

The company wanted us to produce a two-week long summer activation in Cowcross Yards – a destination where guests can explore, eat, drink and enjoy Farringdon. This creative placemaking project gave guests the opportunity to come and enjoy the space, while trying out a delicious selection of Vegan BBQ food.

The event needed to create the ultimate summer vibe and incorporate elements such as bunting and décor across the yards, deckchairs, picnic tables and music.

The aim was to increase footfall and dwell time to generate coverage for Cowcross Yards and create an immersive space which guests would return to again in the future.

What we did

Four Agency Worldwide teamed up with street-food company KERB to host this plant-based BBQ experience and offer a selection of delicious vegan and veggie options for guests to enjoy in the glorious sunshine. It was an opportunity to celebrate the growing popularity and diversity of vegan alternatives served by a selection of independent traders.

Alongside this, the marketing agency also wanted to collaborate with We Are Placemaking to enhance the public realm and create a summer oasis. We wanted to bring colour and life to the already bustling yard that would encourage visitors to stay and enjoy their vegan lunch.

Utilising the existing bespoke bench seating and giant tree in the yard, we wanted to make this the focal point of the scheme. Our team added green AstroTurf around this centre point to compliment the existing tree, which we also enhanced with decorative ribbon to create a mini festival vibe.

We also provided extra seating in the form of colourful deck chairs to add to the summer aesthetic and hung cow print bunting at both entrances to welcome guests upon arrival. This bespoke décor was created in-house and especially for this event, but we ensured to produce the bunting out of weatherproof sustainable material so that it can be re-used again in the future. We also installed floor vinyls to ensure there was colourful signage throughout the whole space, leading visitors directly to the BBQ.

We loved transforming Cowcross Yards into a colour paradise – providing guests with a taste of summer that would be sure bring them back all year round!
