Brief

The Northbank BID was keen to celebrate Pride in its 50th London year and came to We Are Placemaking to assist with the production and styling of an installation that would be perfect to add to London’s celebrations.

The Pride Wall that We Are Placemaking created for Northbank BID.

What we did

We jumped at the chance to create a double-feature wall. Often overlooked, the back of activation structures can offer another great opportunity to take memorable pictures.

The We Are Placemaking team went for sequins and smiles! Decked out with floor vinyl, an elevated platform, flooring, and fencing – the Pride platform at Charing Cross was a hit. The colourful addition to the station was a great backdrop for some fun Instagram snaps – bringing friends and families together, putting a smile on the faces of commuters, and celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. We believe this piece is a true reflection of how powerful creative placemaking in the public realm can be.

Thinking behind the box as well as outside of it can add to an already great installation concept. We are so glad to have been a part of celebrating 50 years of Pride in London this year – we look forward to seeing what the next 50 years hold.

This is just one example of We Are Placemaking’s London placemaking work, with other projects extending across the UK and Europe.
