Introduction

After the continued success of the Crown Estate Christmas Workshops, We Are Placemaking were asked by ANM to curate a series of unique and engaging Christmas workshops at Coal Drops Yard to tie in with their Northern Brights Christmas styling.

Delivery

After a site visit to Coal Drops Yards to get a good feel for the site and the workshop locations we set to work sourcing fun and exciting workshops to fill the spaces. Over a period of 4 weeks we delivered 10 workshops. The series included: Bauble Marbling at Tom Dixon, where guest were ale to create beautiful, handmade marbled Christmas baubles to take home to decorate their tree. This workshop was designed to complement the colours ad patterns of Tom Dixon’s new tableware range. We also ran a series of Festive Piñata Workshops in Twiin. Guests were invited to make their own dazzling Christmas piñatas. Another workshop we brought to the yards was Christmas Cracker making at Kitchen Provisions. Guests settled down in the kitchen ware store to create their own handmade, bespoke Christmas crackers. There were hats, jokes and beautiful hand selected gifts to place inside the crackers, including leather keyrings, handmade earrings and fun badges.Alongside managing the smooth running of the workshops. We Are Placemaking sourced thoughtfully selected furniture and festive, tasteful décor to the in-store locations.

Results

The workshops were really fun and engaging with many guests visiting the nearby shops, bars and restaurants after the workshop. The workshops left visitors with a take-home memory of Coal Drops Yard and raised the profile of the area as a fashionable, unique shopping destination.
