Brief

Seasonal creative placemaking events are a brilliant way for organisations to engage visitors, celebrate local businesses and enhance the public realm.e

Eastern City, one of London’s Business Improvement Districts, requested to partner up with our team once again, this time for the organisation’s Easter activation.

EC Bid wanted the activation to promote buildings and businesses in the area – encouraging guests to explore routes they may not normally follow and discover all the excellent sites that the Eastern City area of Central London has to offer.

What we did

Keen to produce a colourful, engaging placemaking event for EC BID, we created a dynamic deck showcasing our ideas for the event within the client’s budget – including a detailed production schedule to indicate how the trail would be installed, carried out, and de-rigged.

Working with trusted designers and suppliers, we put together a collection of easter eggs showcasing unique designs for each location in the BID – keeping consistent with tone while celebrating the differing identities of each venue.

Installing nine artworks across various locations in just one day was no easy feat, but with the help of our event operations and health & safety colleagues at We Are OPS, we were able to do so with great ease.

Staff at the nine destinations – Liverpool Street Station, Can of Ham Building, Leadenhall Building, Leadenhall Market, Bishopsgate 22, Fazenda, Fenchurch Street Station, Double Tree Hilton, and The Four Seasons Hotel – were excited to have their own egg designed, and welcome participants into the space.

To encourage visitor interaction, we created a map through which participants could collect stamps at each location, offering a free easter egg to all those who completed the trail.

Overall, the activation was a success, with hundreds of people completing the whole trail across the weekend. So many, in fact, that multiple Easter egg restocks were needed!

Events like this can increase awareness and familiarity with destinations – encouraging future visits and spend within the spaces. We thoroughly enjoyed working with EC BID once again and creating a fun, impactful activity with real results.
