Brief

Baker Street Partnership invited We Are Placemaking to collaborate on their Summer Series held in Portman Square, Marylebone. What is normally a private park for residents to use as their gardens was opened once a month every Wednesday from June to September, and for a whole week in July during the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. This was so everyone could come and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street.

What we did

The We Are Placemaking team worked closely with the Baker Street Partnership to encapsulate their message of wellness and sustainability. This idea was implemented from the workshops all the way down to the reusable cable ties!

With the success of previous years, we listened to the feedback from guests and residents and worked on a schedule for food traders and bars from local businesses to give offerings on the live event days. This was then paired with sustainable workshops, which were free to partake in and would give all participants new ways of using sustainability in their everyday life. During the Wimbledon weeks especially, we made the space welcoming to all, from craft corners to various different seating arrangements, so that the space and additional entertainment could be enjoyed.

Each live event day held a different set-up to give as much variety to the guests in the park, allowing them to have a new experience each time they entered the space.
