Brief
Brookfield’s City Point is a 36 storey landmark tower in the City of London district with a large communal space outside for workers and shoppers. Brookfield asked us to create an eye-catching summer seating project with the idea of a razzle-dazzle camouflage pattern across the scheme. Incorporating games and activities to bring people outside. Sustainability and a place for wild flowers to thrive were also top of their wish list.
Having produced many other London placemaking projects before, as well as placemaking projects across the UK and further afield, We Are Placemaking team were keen to get involved.
What we did
Our team had a wonderful time creating the design for this project, and with the main brief point of sustainability in mind we created this aesthetically pleasing hexagon shaped and hive inspired seating structure. Incorporating games and activities that the public could also get involved with, such as skittles lanes, and a large interactive chess board which was designed into the seating structure. Our creative lead created these wonderful digital renders (seen pictured) which were then sent to the client for approval. Additionally, throughout the design process we involved our Health and Safety team over at We Are Ops to discuss the structural safety and compliance of the structure. Once this was all signed off we enlisted some of our trusted suppliers to manufacture the activation ready for installation. We then project managed the installation which was seamless. Lastly adding the finishing styling, interactive touches and even some landscape gardening with the installs of the planters. The installation was a huge success with the local workers and community in that area and it looked spectacular!
