Brief

We Are Placemaking were back again with the brilliant team at Victoria BID – this time for a summer games installation at the site located in Lower Grosvenor Garden.

The Victoria Business Improvement District (BID) is a business-led and business-funded body formed to improve and support economic growth in Victoria, located in Westminster, Central London.

This time, the Victoria BID team wanted to create a game installation accessible for all, with the opportunity to give back to a valued charity in the area. Having worked successfully with We Are Placemaking on London Placemaking projects before, they trusted our team again to make their ideas come to life.

What we did

Working with Victoria BID, We Are Placemaking decided what kind of game would be most suitable to put in this space, and one that would work in the ever-changing British summer weather. Using our creative placemaking skills, we landed on Pitch n Putt.

We worked closely with a course designer to come up with a concept that would best highlight landmarks in the public realm, which spelt out who had put this fantastic mini course into the gardens – quite literally!

To entice other guests into the gardens, we provided weather-worthy seating and a place to have a break from the hustle and bustle. We incorporated a sea of picnic benches accompanied by parasols for shade or shelter, whichever was needed.

We also helped Victoria BID collaborate with local businesses to offer refreshments to guests, and promote their own businesses within the space to further drive footfall into Victoria – something we have done at a range of London Placemaking projects, as well as at other projects located across the UK and further afield.
