We Are Placemaking have become the first co-winners of NOEA’s brand new Placemaking Award – a new category recognising projects that have created a quality event in a public space, enhancing the space.

The team received the prestigious award at the National Outdoor Event Association‘s ceremony, which took place at the iconic Roman Baths and Pump Rooms in the historic city of Bath on Thursday.

Announcing new award categories in March, NOEA CEO Susan Tanner said: “The awards are very much led by the submissions, and we saw huge amount of growth in Placemaking events, and those within the rural and agricultural sector. The entries have now grown to a point that these events deserve recognition in their own right.

“Our Convention & Awards this year will be more ambitious and far reaching than we have ever tried in the past. The feedback from last year was exceptional and we want to build on this for the whole of the industry.”

When looking for their winners for this unique award, the judges looked for teams that “recognised the importance of working with local communities to deliver events in public spaces”.

Hanna Davis, Account Director at We Are Placemaking said: “At the heart of every placemaking event lies a community, and this is a mentality we have always kept at the forefront of our minds – to ground our goals and enhance our projects.

“Thank you to NOEA and a huge congratulations to our incredible co-winners, Grim Fal Fest, as well as all other winners and finalist at last night’s awards!”
