Brief

St James Quarter is a new retail led, lifestyle district. Following on from the work we did launching the centre in June 2021, We Are Placemaking were asked to put forward some creative ideas to activate Edinburgh Style. The event needed to appeal to brand partners and the wider Edinburgh community.

What we did

We Are Placemaking were tasked with activating various areas and we wanted to ensure there was always something going on with shareable content, both physically and digitally. We created a series of ‘Style Stories’- backdrops offered to brand partners for displaying their style, ‘The Style Lounge’ – a quirky pop up lounge with drop in talks with topic examples around Sustainable Fashion, Fashion Designers, Brand Partners and Pattern Illustrators.

In addition to this, we hosted the hero ‘SJQ Style Dome’- a main stage space for a weekend of activity with Edinburgh College of Art Fashion Displays of looks, jewellery and textiles. We labelled the Car Park ‘Underground Style’ where St James Quarter hosted a Vintage Fashion Market, and we worked closely with Edinburgh College of Art on an underground style fashion show. Including a bar provided by Johnnie Walker.
