London’s first ever Uzbek Culture & Food Festival, brought to life by We Are Placemaking, made international news this week.
The event, which we produced in collaboration with OshPaz, Uzbek diaspora, Potters Fields Park, the Embassy of Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Culture & Tourism, gave Londoners a unique and authentic insight into the wonderful world of Uzbek culture.
From arts and crafts exhibitions showcasing traditional Uzbek craftwork, to traditional live music and DJs, and a whole tonne of Plov cooked by a team of Uzbek chefs in the open air, the free event was jammed packed festival goers enjoying a huge range of fun and flavour, against the backdrop of London’s beautiful Tower Bridge.
And it turns out, the festival was enjoyed by thousands more, who tuned in to watch the highlights on national TV in Uzbekistan.

About Uzbek Culture and Food Festival
London’s Uzbek Culture & Food Festival took place in Potters Fields Park by Tower Bridge on June, 17 and 18 2023.
The first of its kind, the festival celebrated the diverse cultural heritage of Uzbekistan – located over 3,700 miles away in Central Asia.
The event gave visitors the opportunity to experience numerous aspects of Uzbek culture – from craftsmanship to cuisine, and everything in between. A highlight included Muzaffar Sadykov, founder of OshPaz, preparing a whole tonne of Plov – an authentic lamb and rice dish from Central Asia.
Those who missed out can head to Mercato Metropolitano or Seven Dials Market to try out a range of their authentic Uzbek dishes. Alternatively, you can wait for the next Uzbek Culture & Food Festival, which we hope to see return again soon!
