Brief

In the lead up to the Queen’s Jubilee, more and more events were taking place to celebrate her incredible 70-year reign. The Victoria, Victoria Westminster, Whitehall & Northbank BIDs thought it was only right they did the same with a London placemaking project, and asked We Are Placemaking to create “The Great Victoria Garden Party”.

What we did

Situated in Lower Grosvenor Gardens We Are Placemaking were asked to produce and host a two-day event that was an opportunity for tourists, residents and local partners to enjoy themselves in the glorious sunshine. A bandstand hosting live Jazz musicians throughout the day, a workshop space, various outdoor seating and even a life size gold carriage was installed giving visitors a wonderful experience.

Workshops such as biscuit decorating, Jubilee themed floral and theatre workshops took place within the gardens whilst listening to a backdrop of live Jazz music throughout the day.  Delicious Afternoon Tea offerings were also available to guests which were provided by local Hotels within the area.

Not only did We Are Placemaking produce and liaise with various suppliers and stakeholders involved they were also on site for the live event ensuring the smooth running of it from start to finish. We enjoyed every minute of this wonderful event and felt ecstatic to have been part of the celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
